The Cause of Subluxation - Life Stressors

Let us take a look at what causes subluxations in the first place. There are three main categories of stressors that cause subluxation. There are physical stressors, emotional stressors, and chemical stressors. In all cases the effect of the stressor is that the body can not adapt and bring itself back to normal function again. Much of these stressors are a result of our lifestyle choices so there is much we can do to prevent these from happening. Once the subluxations have been created though, they must be corrected or they will continue to cause damage. Let's look at each type of stressor.

Physical Stressors

Children are very active physically throughout their development. In many cases this is the most physically demanding time of life. They are also constantly learning new skills, and when learning anything new children make mistakes and end up with bumps, bruises, broken bones, and subluxations.

It is an error to think that just because the pain goes away that the body has completely healed from the physical trauma. Often the body has just compensated for the injury and subluxations are left behind cause decreased function in the nervous system. The longer these subluxations are left uncorrected the more damage they will cause.

It is also important to realize that all the development that is taking place in a child's life needs to be monitored and controlled by the nervous system. If there is interference preventing proper function in the nerves then development of the child can be hindered. The negative effect might not be noticed until years down the road which is why it is very important to get checked for subluxations early in life and on a regular basis.

Chemical Stressors

CandyThe air we breathe, the water we drink, and the foods we eat are where most of our chemical stressors in life, in terms of toxins, come from. The pesticides, industrial waste, and car fumes are just some of the examples that we all deal with daily. Some people make it even worse through the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs. Drugs perscribed by a doctor are not exempt either. They all have ‘side effects’ because they are all toxic to the body and these will contribute to the formation of subluxations in the body. Aspirin use is the third leading cause of preventable death, so it is certainly capable of overwhelming the body and contributing to subluxations.

Poor Nutrition

If someone is exposed to a lot of chemical stressors it increases the likelihood that they will be have subluxations. Even if the chemical stressor has been removed, such as someone who quits smoking, there can be subluxations that will be left behind and they will continue to cause health damage until they are corrected.

Another type of chemical stressor comes in the form of the absence of proper nutrients. All of our cells need certain nutrients to function properly. If the diet is not getting all of the proper nutrients the cells need then the cells will begin fail and this failure will create subluxaitons.

Emotional Stressors

The life of a child is all about new experiences. Much of our learning through life is about the process of trial and error. The error part of that equation can sometimes add up and it puts an emotional demand on our children.

Whether it is being afraid of the monsters under the bed, the bully in the playground tomorrow, or what Mom and Dad are going to say if I bring home another D, these emotional stressor add tension to the system and sometimes that tension results in a subluxation. The stressors are unavoidable. They are part of life. We just need to be able to stay ahead of any damage they are causing so that our children stay strong.

As a child gets older the emotional demands on them increase. In the early years it is just the anxiety of being without Mom for more than 5 minutes. Then it becomes the challenge of playing with other friends and learning that you have to share and can't just take everything you want. Then they start giving you homework at school and chores at home. Then you are in to highschool and they are constantly asking you to figure out what you plan to do with rest of your life.
